Japanese skateboarder Ginwoo Onodera, aged 14, made an impressive X Games debut on Sunday, May 14th. Remarkably, he secured victory in the men’s street skateboarding competition at the youngest age ever recorded. Moreover, he now holds the distinction of being the second-youngest champion in X Games history, a title previously held by 11-year-old Nyjah Huston.
Ginwoo Onodera’s Historic Victory at X Games
In 2023, Onodera made history as he secured victory during his debut at the X Games in Japan. He earned the title of the Men’s Street Skateboarding Competition’s youngest-ever champion. By flawlessly executing nearly all of his tricks, he dominated the competition and achieved an outstanding score of 90.66. This score outperformed his rivals, Kelvin Hoefler (83.66) and Jamie Foy (83.33), who found themselves trailing behind. Notably, even Nyjah Huston, a 13-time X Games champion, could only muster a score of 71.33, leading to a 12th-place finish.
